So this is a picture of Becky and I outside of "The Bodies" exhibit on the waterfront of New York City. What is the Bodies Exhibit? It's a scientific experiment that encourages us to "Celebrate the wonder of the human form of BODIES."
What is it all about? To help you see what a body really looks like on the inside, this Exhibition uses real human bodies that have been preserved so they do not decay.
A human specimen is first preserved according to standard mortuary science. The specimen is then dissected to show whatever it is that someone wants to display. Once dissected, the specimen is immersed in acetone, which eliminates all body water. The specimen is then placed in a large bath of silicone, or polymer...yada, yada, yada. I pulled that little excerpt off of the web page. Bottom line. It was gross, amazing, and ingenius all at the same time. You'll never look at meat the same way again. What fascinated me more than anything during this 45 minute walk was the location of the soul. The soul is defined as the emotional part of ones body, the seat of the feelings or sentiment. In the spirit world, it is where our spirit connects with God's spirit. It's where the Kingdom connection interacts with our physical dimension. It's where questions and answers become one. When we are challenge to see first His kingdom, it is there where we even come close to an understanding of God's economy.
As I stood face to face with dead people, that was my prevailing thought. "Who were you? What did you stand for? Did you encounter God? Did you have that pleasure?"
