I saw Nancy Reagan in Church on Sunday
The other day in church I’m pretty positive I saw our former first lady, Nancy Reagan. Okay, not really, but man did she look like the real deal. In fact, as great as our worship time was, I couldn't help but have my attention drawn to her throughout the entire hour. As I drove home from church the thought occurred to me…”When people look at me, what do they see? What are THEY drawn to? What do they think of?"
Hebrews 1:3 tells us that “The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God”. When people saw Jesus, they saw God. Crazy! As a follower of "The Way" do people see Jesus when the see me? Am I carrying the qualities of the “radiant Son”? Or...do I carry the image of something else, someone else?
Consider Paul’s thoughts to the Corinthian church…
2 Corinthians 3:1-4 “Are we beginning to praise ourselves again? Are we like others, who need to bring you letters of recommendation, or who ask you to write such letters on their behalf? Surely not! The only letter of recommendation we need is you yourselves. Your lives are a letter written in our[a] hearts; everyone can read it and recognize our good work among you. Clearly, you are a letter from Christ showing the result of our ministry among you. This “letter” is written not with pen and ink, but with the Spirit of the living God. It is carved not on tablets of stone, but on human hearts.”
What would the world be like if people saw Jesus in you, on the streets, or even in church?
