Which came first? The spiritual chicken or the egg?

"My soul longs, yes, faints
for the courts of the LORD;
my heart and flesh sing for joy
to the living God." Psalm 84:2

I've noticed in this last year an underswell of hunger and thirst developing for the raw and pure word of God. More frequently than not, I have found myself in conversations with people that have recognized their malnourishment and simnply want to eat daily at the spiritual table that has been bountifully supplied to them in the basic layout of the scripture. Why?

Perhaps it's the fresh welcomed and invited activity of the Holy Spirit in our church body that has infected our people individually. Or, quite likely, it's the other way around. Is it that our people have tasted and seen (Psalm 34:8) that the Lord is good and their lives are a reflection of that goodness and now our church body is a reflection of the collective goodness of God's people.

Whatever the case, it is clear that we want more and when we say "come, Holy Spirit" what we are really saying is this: "God, create in us a hightened sensitivity to your presence and activity in our lives. We want to see you always before ouselves!"

May the Lord develop in you that amazing and created movement towards Him.
